The statue was definitely looking out towards San Francisco and the challenge was to show just that. However the statue was placed in such a way that you could not take a shot of it and what its looking at without introducing a lot of clutter into the frame (there were just too many visitors at the place). I climbed up on a wall behind the statue to take this shot as I felt it would be a more effective shot if I showed what the statue was looking at rather than who the statue is of.
